What is Hiivel?

Hiivel is a cloud-based business operations platform built specifically for UK trades and field service businesses. It combines HR management, compliance tracking, training records, document management, and asset tracking in one flat-rate subscription.

Who is Hiivel designed for?

Hiivel is designed for UK SMEs in trades and field service — plumbers, electricians, gas engineers, HVAC contractors, construction firms, facilities management companies, and similar businesses with dispersed workforces.

How does pricing work?

Hiivel charges a flat monthly or annual fee per business — not per employee. This means your costs stay predictable as your team grows. Plans start at £29/month for the Starter plan (up to 10 employees), £59/month for Growth (up to 50 employees), and £99/month for Business (up to 200 employees). Annual billing saves you 2 months compared to monthly.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — all plans include a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required to start. Your trial includes full access to all modules available on your chosen plan.

What modules are included on each plan?

The Starter plan includes HR and Compliance modules. The Growth and Business plans unlock all five modules: HR, Compliance, Training, Documents, and Assets.

Can I track certification expiry dates?

Yes. Hiivel's HR and Training modules include certification tracking with automated expiry alerts. You can log CSCS cards, Gas Safe registrations, IPAF licences, first aid certificates, and any other qualification — and receive reminders at 90, 60, and 30 days before expiry.

Does Hiivel support right-to-work checks?

Yes. You can upload right-to-work documents against each employee record, log the check date, and set renewal reminders for time-limited documents (visas, BRPs). This creates an auditable record if the Home Office investigates.

How does the Compliance module handle RIDDOR?

The Compliance module lets you log incidents and near-misses with all required fields. It checks against RIDDOR thresholds to flag reportable incidents and tracks your reporting deadlines. You can export a pre-filled summary to support your HSE online submission.

Can I manage vehicles and tools in Hiivel?

Yes — the Assets module lets you register vehicles, tools, and equipment; assign them to named operatives; track inspection and service dates; and receive automated reminders when a service or inspection is due.

Is Hiivel built on UK employment law?

Yes. Hiivel is designed specifically for UK employers and reflects UK legislation: the Employment Rights Act, Working Time Regulations, Statutory Sick Pay rules, and UK right-to-work requirements under the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act.

How secure is my data?

Hiivel uses bank-grade encryption in transit and at rest. Data is stored in the EU (AWS eu-west-2 region). We are GDPR-compliant and never sell your data to third parties.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel anytime from your account settings. Monthly plans cancel at the end of the current billing month. Annual plans can be cancelled but are not refunded for the remaining period.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data is retained for 30 days after cancellation, during which you can export it. After 30 days it is permanently deleted from our systems.

Do you offer onboarding support?
